But what about the use of a composite material with fiber and matrix of one and the same material? Our customers have to produce economically, and to do so they also need economical tool solutions. We see this as an opportunity to differentiate ourselves from our competitors through customized solutions for our customers.<\/h5><\/blockquote>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Due to their positive material properties, fibre-reinforced composites have been used more and more frequently in a wide variety of applications for several years. But what about the use of a composite material with fiber and matrix of one and the same material? What sounds rather strange at first glance makes sense at second glance.<\/p>\n<p>An example of one of these composites is the Curv material from Propex Global. There is both fiber made of polypropylene (PP) matrix. However, fibres and matrix differ in their degree of crystallization, i.e. how ordered the individual molecule chains of the plastic are in relation to each other. Targeted stretching of the fibres results in a strong orientation of the molecular chains. As a result, the bonding forces between the individual chains are maximized, giving the fiber material significantly higher mechanical properties than the starting material.<\/p>\n<p>What distinguishes these materials and where are they used? At 0.94g\/cm\u00b3, its material density is lower than that of water. They are extremely robust. Another specific feature is the high formability, which enables special areas of application. The composite material is used, for example, for automotive trim parts, for skates in the sporting goods sector or for suitcases.<\/p>\n<p>The specific properties, however, place high demands on machining, so the challenge in cutting is not only the extremely tough fiber but also the low melting temperature of the material.
